We decided on the name "Dr. Chunk" because the metal scene in America in many
ways is sick, and unhealthy. It needs to be tended to, it needs professional
help, a doctor. For a long time, much of the metal we hear on the radio has been
about compromising with other styles of music and making a "me too" type of
sound. Dr. Chunk isn't that way. We want to give the metal scene a "shot in the
arm" with good, pure metal in a style that's not muffled or drowned out by
commercial influences.
2) What are your major influences??
Influences:
Anything heavy and loud! Specifically, we are influenced by
AC/DC, Tool, Trent Reznor, Pantera, Disturbed, Kiss, older Metallica, Megadeth,
Pink Floyd. Basically, a lot of the music we grew up with, and some of the new
music we've heard that we feel really adds to the metal scene.
3.It might sound a little strange, but what do you think of NU Metal??
>what about the American metal in general??
Some nu-metal is cool, but a lot of it is commercialised dog food music for
the masses. In all honesty, you can put a label on a particular genre of metal
if you want, but it all comes down to one thing: Does the band write killer
songs that move the listener.
4.What are your plans for the future??
We plan to tour relentlessly and get the word out about the band to anyone
who can appreciate metal.
5.5.what do you think about the Europe scene?Would you like to play in
Europe??
We've seen videos of the Dynamo and it get's us a little depressed, because
America used to be like that too, but not anymore. It was crazy fun and everyone
loved metal! Mikey Niel has played the Dynamo and the Wacken festivals in
Europe and he knows first hand how the shows go off over there. We'd love to
play in Europe and can't wait to go over there!
