Here's another 80 forgotten band. British "Motörhead" called Tank! These guys used to be
pretty good and supported for Metallica too. Tank's music is also described as "toilet rock"
which is pretty describing except that its more metal than rock. "Toilet" describes good their
dirty guitarsound and rough Algys monotonous vocals. I think its a positive thing because
that's how they should sound. Dirty chopping metal. Thanks for High Vaultage Records rereleasing
this and few other good records...
So Algy's voice is rough and pretty monotonous which fits the music, guitarwork is riffbased,
not complicated but riffs is what this music asks for, drums are solid, nothing too technical
but supports the music and melodies are something makes this great. Angry usually mid-fast melodies
with rock influences still staying metal. The War Drags Ever On open this album with war sounding
intro and what a great song it is. It clocks over 8 minutes with blazing riffing without getting
boring at all. When All Hell Freezes Over succeeds to keep it up without breaking the great mood,
not shining as the opener though. Honour and Blood is very cathy and hard riffing song too,
a highlight. Chain if fools is mid-fast and pounding, typical Tank track. Continuing with good
little more emotional yet heavy Wasting My Life Away. Then comes the weak point, Too Tired
To Wait For Love, cheesy...! Anyway it doesn't succeed to boil the album, good that way, i
just use to skip it though. Album ends with solid Kill. Actually this record has a bonus track
The Man That Never Was but its just plain humorous so no more about it :)
Overall this album contains 2 classic tracks, 3 great ones, 2 solid Tank tracks and 2 forgettable
(of which 1 is a bonus track). I think its pretty good mix and worth of money. Very
good stuff from 80's if not classic.
