Interview with Transcendental Protagonist of LOST HORIZON

1. Why all secret about the new album, just a few interviews and so?

Well, the word “secret” is a little bit exaggerated. It’s just because we don’t want to spread any in-depth info before the time is right. And for the interviews – we simply changed our mind. Initially, we decided to start the interview machinery the first November, but we rethought the situation and came to the conclusion that it would be too early doing it three mouths before the release, which could possibly result in surfeit and general blasé of the people and that would be very “unhealthy” for the proper album’s release three months later. Besides, the promo-CDs have not been spread around yet, so the interviewers would not have anything new to base their questions on and those would most probably only touch upon the first album or just standard miserable themes, which are in-de-cri-ba-bly boring. So You are one among those we promised an interview before that decision.

2. The first album 'Awakening the World' got good reviews everywhere. Did you feel any pressure while recording the second album?

Absolutely not. Why should we? We did it once; we do it again, at least just as good. It’s the same fingers, legs and throat, and I am the same composer, even more matured now.

3. Which musical differences can we expect on the new album?

A lot of slower parts, much more epical arrangements, solos played by two guitarists, longer playtime of the songs, different overall sound, very varying and incredible singing on incredible heights. True, magical, pure heavy metal with a gloomy and mystic aura.

4. How will the new album be promoted? Is there a tour coming up?

I don’t know what to say here... The tour matter has been ridiculous in connection to this band – a pure paradox by all means. Moreover, several head-line bands, which we was initially supposed to open for on tour, started to shake with their asses as the time went and fled the field, which is absolutely ridiculous, as our purpose isn’t to steal the attention from their shows, but to share the true power of metal with people. I guess, in the end we will be forced to take care about a tour by our selves. But we shall see what the nearest moths will bring.

5. On the site you can read that every instrument was recorded in a different studio for the first album. How did you guys go to work this time?

This time we’ve recorded everything in the same studio. It’s because we now exclusively work with ProTools systems, so it would be really messy to cooperate with studios which use other systems. Only the mastering was done somewhere else, that is in the same studio where we mixed the vocals for “Awakening The World”, still even here using ProTools.

6. Every band prefers a sort of writing process. How does Lost Horizon compose their songs, and was the band again in charge of the production?

Well, “in charge” would not be the right word. We decided all sound and recorded everything, but we didn’t do the settings, as for that the responsible person was our technical supervisor Baskim “S” Zuta of Meta4Music – like usually. He was also in charge of the mix, the audio related decisions were made by us. The mastering took place in Tremolo Music studio, with Tobias (M-R-M-R) Lindell behind the controls.

7. If you read 'the message' on the website you will discover there is more to Lost Horizon then only great metal. It seems more like a religion than a message. Who came up with this? And will the story be expanded?

This is not a story, it is reality seen through our eyes. Yes, it will definitely be expanded or rather new nuances will be touched upon. The general idea is the same – to help people to see things which are always around but hidden, and to feel and understand the mysterious parts of the existence. And of course much more…

8. What separates Lost Horizon from the rest?

One main thing – we got it all, inside one band!

9. What will the future bring for the band?

This is a question which is not possible to be answered anymore. Before, I would say this and that, but now nothing can be decided in advance or even imagined, as so far almost nothing has went the way we wanted it, except for the albums themselves, which we consider being fantastic and reflecting what we are. And of course, the reaction of the people, which was great!
