Nightwish is indeed a brand name for the consumers of atmospheric metal nowadsys and for good reasons,
Nightwish returned with the reat album CenturyChild, and one thing is for sure- it won't hurt their already established reputation!
A romantic album with the great voice that we are used with from Tarja Turunnen, and the band is backing her up in the usual megastyle- I mean as far as I know she IS the ultimate metal female voice, and that's all there is to it!
Then again the comparation with Therion springs to mind- again and again and again- but there is nothing wrong with that either
fact is that the guitars are stronger than on Over the Hillls and far away , so we have a more metal album that still keeps all the romantism of Nighwish, and God, is she good!
And you can headbang to it too- it's heavy and strong and although my personal opinion of female voices in metal is not the greatest-- Century Child is slowly changing my opinion.
the spectacular song Bless the Child is definitely the highlight of an otherwise very good album, but this one is IT- a flawless album from a great band-
