This is old finnish band, quite unknown. I bought this CD just for my metal collection and wasnt sure what to expect. Well.
I could describe it with 2 words: quite entertaining. The band really rarely kicks it for real, but there are couple
of very good songs on this album, that are worth of hearing for oldschool metal fan. Search Lights is is strong opener
with good chorus and melody lines. Clear but strong vocals and strong guitarwork creates nice athmosphere. More groovy and
relaxed slower Fortune is also nice piece of metal. Half-balladic but heavy-enought Black Candles is also good with
its sad melodies, but guitars on Gamblers chorus sounds some parts like pinball sounds which boils the song i think. Fire In The Brain
the titletrack is another strong song though the chorus could had been more striking. But the guitarline sounds somewhat
too similar for Search Lights. Good riff tough, no question of it. Afterall the soundquality is ok for this old album.
Singer is quite fine with strong and clean voice. Bass is allright along with the drums. Guitarwork is part strong part weaker.
Quite fine album, but certainly not a must-buy for everyone. I'd say if your 80's metal collector or like
old stylus power metal with some personal touch buy this. Differs from normal average powermetal album with partly more devilish
partly rockier and groovier sound. Another coulda-been-but-never-really-made-it-band...
Album stays a bit short too. Anyway, i always like devilish powermetal image and here you got it :)
If i give 5-6 to an average album i must give this...
6.5/10 (for nowadays standards)
