Dragonlord is formed on the back bone of Testament, featuring Testament members: Eric Peterson, Jon Allen, Steve Smyth, and Steve Digiorgio. The band also features Psypheria keyboardist Lyle Livingston. Testament started off as a thrash bands and has progressivly gotten heavier with each album till they became a borderline death metal band. Such a progression has paved the way for Dragonlord, which is Eric Peterson's dip into the black metal genre. It's no suprised that the riffs on Dragonlord's Rapture are similar sounding to Testaments latest, The Gathering. Fans of Testaments later stuff will most likely enjoy Dragonlord aswell. Lyle Livingston's keyboards add a nice, dark, melodic blend into the thrash/death based riffs. This adds a hightened moody atmosphere to the music. Eric Peterson's vocals are very well done. He uses a nice high pitched black metal screatch, that is aggressive, but also clean and crisp with clear pronuciation of the lyrics. Dragonlord is a good band for thash and black metal fans alike. I would mind see the guys consentrate on Dragonlord for a while, and put Testament on hiatas for a while while Chuck Billy recovers from his cancer.
