Interview with SAKIS of ROTTING CHRIST

> 1. your new album, Genesis, will be out this week. It's Rotting Christ's 7th album to date, so how do you feel when you think about it?

Actually it is our 7 th full length release but anyway it is an album succesor of a long history of a band and to be honest i feel stressed and nervous the same as i was feeling a decade back We have an obligation to release albums that could stand nowadays and they would be a step forward otherwise do not make any sense to release albums just to release. That would be not fair for the people that follow your band all those years and in the end i am satisfied that we have just released another one album that in my opinion could stand in nowadays music needs.

> 2.What is genesis about? each of your previous albums seem to have had a n unique concept behind, so what is this one all about?

It has also a unique concept behind and with that title and album we refer to the birth of a new era that opposes to all high principled usages that opposes to our nowdays moral values to opposes to our so called modern religious societies that calls all the above EVIL. So with this title we praise the rebirth of evil with its existential meaning which means that we praise human beings hidden passions and sins

> 3. In your career you have experienced with a lot of different sounds. Is there any major change that we should expect from Genesis?

Yes experimentation is a an important part in our carrer and with that album we have experiment a lot with samples and keybords as well as with the voice. I do not know if all that are a major change but it is definetely a change that has created our most atmospheric outcome ever.

> 4. Are there any band/musicians/events that influenced your writing on this album?

Hmmmmm i do not think. Even if i love too many musicians' music i can not say that we were based somewhere to compose this album. That would be the end of our history as a band because i believe that somwhow we have created our own sound and we do not really wish to create something that couldn't characterized as ROTTING CHRIST.

> 5.You have just returned from Poland and tour greece at this time, Are you planning an extended european tour?

Yes we are currently touring the Greek territory and in January we will have our headline European tour and later on probably a South American tour. The band would be on the road in order to feel the absolute energy which only a gig can offer.

> 6.The cover of Genesis is quite impressive.were you thinking of a battle between good and evil?

Yes our lives would always be an unending fight between good and evil and with that cover the winner seems to be the evil so we praise the expression of your hidden desires your hidden part of your soul in a not "good " way that doesn't not step with our nowadays obsolete religious societies.

> 7. You have recently announced the release of a live DVD in 2003.why did you decide to do it now?

We have released some VHS tapes in the past but the whole situation with video tapes couldn't be charactirized as official so now as DVD is getting more popular and you can include too many extras we decided to release it this time period.

> 8. You've been in this bussiness for a long time now.How is the metal scene now compared to the 80's when you started?

Yes we started back in very late 80's so we do not know too many things about the scene all this decade but the sure thing is that everything was too romantic back then we helped each other and the word competition was not inclunded in our vocabluary. It was an expression of true feelings and with the will to spread our music and our ideas asmuch as we can but later on the big labels smelt "money" they came into the scene and the whole situation became a part to the current globalization.

> 9.Who is sakis trolis nowadays? did Rotting Christ affected your evolution as a person, or are you keeping the music and your personal life separated?

Sakis Tolis is a person that is still involved with the music as believing that is the most important part on his life ,he confess that he has sacrificed many things in his life in order to have the band still but his artistic concerns would stick always to music even if sometimes he is disapointed too much from many things that takes part. Playing in a band is my goal and i think that the experience we have received as a band has overcome all the bad times and at the end we are satisfied with what we are doing.

> 10.How do you see the metal in the third millenium?

From a revolutionary musical movement will become a mainstream one. Now if that is good or not.......we will see.

> 11. a final word......

KEEP THE DARK CULT ALIVE
