Heres another older US trashmetal band. Testament has delivered albums since late 80's
with varying quality. Later albums been very heavy (even death-metallic
influences can be found at some) and melodic but early career of their's
has been going with pure trashmetal. This is kinda release where their old style gathers
all best things together: angry mood, powerfull riffs, solid vocals. I could even
say this reminds little of old Metallica but maybe not quite as fast-riff-based (Ride
The Lightning etc.).
Vocalist Chuck Billy (hope i remembered name right) has middle toned voice and his
range is not the best (althought it does not matter), his vocals sounds somewhat
very pissed off and its perfect for the music. This is kind of an album which feels really
good to listen on angry mood. It sounds strong and angry but not overshot, melody is there.
Sings of Chaos opens as intro with high guitarscreams that leads to the great Electric Crown,
which is propably the best song on this album at my opinion. Its angry and catchy song about
life. So Many Lies and Left Go Of My World continues the angry sounding trash theme, they
are both midfast solid tracks. Title track is somewhat mysterious sounding slower track,
but i find it somewhat boring. Two more highlights includes strong bangers As The Seasons
Grey and Agony.
If i had to find something to critic here, it'd be sometimes repetitive and simple
riffs, but i think its the trash spirit. This sounds a very solid release althought nothing
spectacular its very entertaining and angry. From mid-fast to fast riffageparty and compared
to old Metallica this sounds more hollow (which also makes this sound pissy), but not
too hollow in meaning of sounding too lazy, if you know what i mean... otherwords, good
US trash release from year 1992! If you like bands like Annihilator, you'll like this.
