When this cd arrived to my post i expected it to be "just" another solid 80's
heavymetal release. Ofcourse i had heard alot of Priest before especially Defenders Of Faith
era and albums after that. So i excpected it to be something pretty straight like songs
Freewheel Burning just little lighter. Well this late 70's release actually blew me away.
Sound here is remastered so its great. Its not so straightforward rocking on melodies all the
time than Priest's 80's releases, but theres also this albums brilliance. Melodies are awesome
at times and very catchy. Rob sings pretty high at most times and his voice aint still as strong as
in mid-80's but it doesn't really matter. I think most of you knows the opener Exciter, its
speedy and worthy opener. White Heat, Red Hot is definetely one of my favourites here, its so
catchy and groovy. Better By You, Better Than Me is also great with singalong chorus.
Titletrack Stained Glass is also highlight with awesome melodies, its beatiful. Invader, Saints
In Hell, Savage and Heroes End are all good and solid but the albums first 4 tracks i first mentioned
are highlights here at my opinion. Beyond The Realms of Death is little, should i say,
balladkind but it has great melody and its not boring at all, usually considered as one of
Priest's best tracks... Little more experimental Priest album than their 80's which is
strong point here not weak. Definetely classic and worth of listen!
