Interview with Metal Mike Chlasciak of HALFORD

1.Where is the Halford band in 2003?

Well after concluding the rest of the touring for our last album "Crucible" we are all going to take a bit of a rest and eventually later on get together to start writing some new music. Keep moving into cool directions. Bobby and myself will do some touring for the PainmuseuM album that we are mixing right now.

2.There have been a lot of problems about the MG Tour. Did these problems affect the stability of the band in any way?

No, I don't think so. I belive that the core of the band, the immediate family that we have is very strong and we have a solid internal bond. The business stuff that goes down won't break a band like this.

3.You said on the Halford Chat that you were a Judas Priest fan.How did it feel for you to be asked to join Rob?

It was awesome, a high point in my life. Things moved very quickly from that point on. A year after we wrote some songs, we sold out Madison Square Garden with Maiden and Queensryche. I've strapped my self into the Metal rollercoaster and I'm in it for life.

4.JB said that Rob wanted to go back in a writing mode. Does this mean you guys are preparing a new album?

Yes, evetually I guess you could say so. Rob loves writing new music and so do we. Evetually a new album is where we are going with this.

5.Last time you guys came to Europe, it was a rather bad omen- with the Sanctuary problems and so on. Will you guys consider returning to Europe?

Yes, definitely. Europe is difficult and expensive to tour, but as I said before, business aside, this band want to play - and play everywhere. We got awesome fans worldwide, so we try to bring Metal everywhere. And, we sell alot of records overseas, so why not.

6.What songs of Judas Priest will you play on the live DVD?

Well, a lot of what was played at our last Anaheim, CA show. There's the "Painkiller" to "Never Satiisfied" ... all kinds of stuff, but we won't know for sure until we cut into the tapes and see what's there. Either way, the fans won't get the DVD unless its ready and its awesome to watch.

7. Getting down to the other business- How is PainMuseum doing nowadays?

PainmuseuM is doing killer. We are mixing the album in July for a early 2004 release. The music is very aggressive, but it contains the mentally engraven strong hooks. So, while the music can get technical at times, you'll still get the big chorus payback and all that. It's just pure stuff from my and everyone's heart. I might be called selfish ... but I decided to make a record that I'd like to go into a Metal store and buy .... and, there's been a few of those last few years, but not an extremely large amount. So, I said .... guys, lets make something different, something that is true and makes us feel great. So you know, its a Metal 101 album and most likley we won't out-sell Limp Bizkit these days, but I really don't care.

8.I know this is a rather old question, but just hypothetically if Rob would go back to Judas Priest- I know he said he is not interested in doing so, but for the sake of the question- so, if he would rejoin JP do you think that he would keep going on with halford as well?

I would believe Yes. I just strongly belive in the bond between all the musicians in this band right now.

9. Who is Metal Mike off stage? What are your interests, hobbies and civil life when you put the guitar aside?

Well, I hardly put my guitar aside, ha !! But well, ok, when you do play guitar for a living, which I'm happy to say I do, because that right there pisses of 100's of people telling me it was impossible, there's a large amount of business that comes with it. And that drains me. So I like to get away from it all. I like cars, so I enjoy working on my Corvette in the Summer. I like WWII memorabilia, so I search for some of that. I like to go to NYC which I love and get completely drunk, go to a cool party if an invitation comes in. I also like to support the Metal scene, so I go to concerts a lot, because as anyone else I'm a fan as well. Well, and outside of that ... I raise goats, because seeing them everyday it makes me feel like the ultimate METAL Warrior !! You know, goat being the mascot of METAL !!!

10. Where is the metal of the third millenium from your point of view?

Its going into the right direction. people want to see "something" these days. Grunge bands killed everything that was associated with fun and hard music. Excuse me, but why would I pay $20 to see a bunch of dudes who stand on stage playing for themselves. Stay in your garage. So, yeah ... people want excitement and the cool thing is that you can have a great time with heavy music and Metal. It's looking good and I guaranteed everyone a great time at any Halford or Painmuseum concert. Sew www.painmuseum.com.
