NATTAS

Right out of Sweden, we have the pleasure to introduce to the world a Black/death metal band with a bright future:
N A T T A S
now what is it all about this band? lets ask them and see what they have to say

1.why"Nattas"?

NATTAS is of course a "Satan-thing". Back when the first incarnation of NATTAS was created, the backwardmessages were a big thing and we decided to go for the most obvious one. The double-T, though, is plainly cosmetical: It gives a better logo!

2.what made you choose death metal??

We donīt play Death metal! We regard ourselves as a Black/Thrash-band. Other people have labelled us "DeathīnīRoll" and "Powermetal with brutal vocals", but in our own mind we play Black Metal (The way it was supposed to sound, the Venom-way!).

3.What did the release of Salvation mean to you?

It meant a sign of life! We havenīt been that productive lately, when it comes to recording ourselves, and I guess people had started to wonder whether NATTAS still was something to count on or not. It also shows our collaboration with a new guitarist. Koke used to play with UNDERCROFT before he decided to stay in Sweden, and this is his first recording with NATTAS. Some of the other songs on the CD have their stories too. "(Open) The gates" is included on a compilation called "Beloved Apocalypse" that you can find attached to the latest Vampiria-magazine from Italy, "Hatred" was included on "Metal Reigns Supreme" released last year and "Welcome to Hell" was supposed to appear on a british compilation entiltled "2001 damnations". The song "Salvation", by the way, will be included on a romanian BM-compilation out soon. I guess the only thing missing for us now, is the chance to record a full-lengther (and of course to tour Europe!).

.Are you planning to tour to promote this album?

We had a plan, yes. We could have done a european-tour in october with a couple of other bands. Unfortunately things didnīt turn out the way we wanted to, so the answer has to be: No, not at the moment. Our promotionagency is working on something later this year, but if anyone wants to book us, feel free to contact us right away!

5. How is the metal scene in Sweden?

There are actually quite a bunch of good bands in Sweden, but there arenīt any places to play! What we need in Sweden to make the metal-scene a real lively one, is more small clubs picking up the sound of the underground. Not big arenas picking up the sound of Bon Jovi! The thing is that if you havenīt sold half a million copies of your latest release, noone will hire you. I guess money talks in this matter...

6. What do you think about the metal of the new millenim??

So far I think itīs awful! Of course there are good records out there released by good bands, but when it comes to the NEW metal, and the NEW bands it leaves me absolutely stunned! Once again I must point at the money-aspect. I canīt believe that these bands are doing it because of their love of music. It is too polished, too "radio-friendly" (knowing that that itself isnīt a bad thing) and too bloody boring! At least for me.
