The Black sun has rised!!

What can I say?I am a big fan of Primal Fear...just look at the contact page:-))
that Primal Fear are one of the most respected bands in the European metal-and not only- that is old news to anyone who knows wheat real metal is...

Fact is that "Black Sun was meant to be a different album of what one would expect of Primal Fear, and not onmly because is a concept album
his album will probably satisfy any listener of true metal and leave them beg for more. From sensitive ballads to the most brutal song that PF have written untill now, there is all there, delivered by a band that accepts only excellence as their standard.
The story line is a sci fi saga, following the adventures of the mythical steel eagles on their way to the misterious Black sun. in the undefined time when the adventure starts, the hunmanity is decaying and a post apocaliptyc scenario of a world confronted with unspeakable acts of violence and psycho manipulation needs desperately a hope. That is what the Steel Eagles are destined to bring, by finding the legendary Black sun... The album starts with a very innocent and quite unexpected intro ...with a little solo of bells...but just immediately it errupts in one aggressive peice of metal
It is the first time that the into of a PF album is played by the band, and this one, called"Countdown to Insanity" is probably the best that PF have done so far
Black sun, the title song, is one hell of a metal song and it gives the listener one great surprise. Pf are delivering the goods on this album , that is all that this song is meant to state...and it sure does!!
Armageddon is the second one and it was inspired by the events of September 11th, in a very obvious way.PF do have a history on this particular theme, and Church of Blood is the track that comes to mind. Armageddon is also the song that got a video...and what a video...a definite "must see"
Lightyears from home takes the saga of the Steel Eagles one step farther. As we were told on"Black Sun", they are on the way to the black sun, nd now we see them going farther in a song with interesting introspective nuances.Ralf Scheepers delivers some great vocals here, but the best of the album is yet to come. The song has a very alert rhythm, and it's a pleasure to listen for all the addicted to power metal
Revolution is by far one of my favourite songs off this album, although it is quite difficult to pick a favorite out of it, but this one is not only blessed by deep meaningful lyrics, but also by a very alert rhythm combined by an extremely high pitched vocal performance, together with the standard guitar duel of Henny wolter and Stefan Leibing
Fear(Dogs of war) brings us back to an Earth tormented by savage distruction and senseless violence. One of the strongest songs of the album, starting with the sound of a "stuka" airplane and a great chorus
"Fear is a four-letter word!!
I cannot get enough of it!!Also- to note that Mike Chlasciak of "Halford" played one great solo here
Mind Control slows the pace a bit to give the listener time to breath, starting with one almost lyrical solo , but backed with the thundering drum attacks of Klaus Sperling and just a little farther you realise that the slowed pace does not mean that the song is in any way weak

Magic Eye is one of the most mellodic tracks off the album, with a lower vocal line than we are usually used to from Ralf Scheepers...interesting as he alternates the low singing with the high pitches.Yet, the song is not exactly a ballad
ind Machine is probably the most brutal song of PF to date, with very cutting guitar riffs and an incredible vocal duet by Ralf Scheepers and Mat Sinner, in something that will be remembered for year to come. Not only that the whole song is very tight and the vocal duet is absolutely earspülitting, but also the two guitarists deliver one aggressive background together with he bassline from hell that we can expect from Mat Sinner
Silence is a deep heart moving ballad in the line of "Bleed for me", but with a little more aggressive background and eye wetting lyrics, a love ballad that will need a lot to be topped

We go down is yet another song with an interesting beginning...a quite slow and deep toned intro that ...PF style... goes out in a bursting of power... are they good or what?

Cols day in hell is the logical continuance on an album who is proving once again that real metal is alive and well...Impressive screams during the chorus...Rob Halford, eat your hear out!!:-))
...and the lightning did not strike me after this, so I might be right!!!

Controlled is the logical track to end this glorious album, a strong mean song, with -again- deep meanings lyrics, this time about the danger of the media controlling our lives
